Near the #Harishchandra Ghat, the King of Kashi donated a very grand building to the residence of "Dom Raja". This family considers itself a descendant of the "Kalu Dome" described in mythological times. On Harishchandra Ghat, there is proper arrangement of all things wooden shroud incense resin etc. for the funeral pyre. There is a very ancient temple of King #Harishchandra Mata Taramati and Rohtashv along with a Shiva temple on this ghat. There is also an electric crematorium in the modern era, but it is rarely used.
It is believed that on the day of Falgun's Rang Ekadashi, Lord Shiva returned to #Kashi after getting afraid of Goddess Parvati. Hence on this day, Bhagwan Shiva's palanquin comes out and people celebrate the festival of colours with them. On the second day, Baba plays Holi of Chita-Bhasma in the form of Aughar amidst the burning pyres on the great crematorium. In this, people devour each other with the echo of Damruas and the slogan '#Har_Har_Mahadev'.
